Reflexology  (including, Vertical Reflex Therapy)

Is a gentle therapy that stimulates reflex areas on the feet that correspond to other areas and organs of the body. The ancient art of Reflexology, reduces stress and helps the body to re-balance itself.

There is evidence of some form of foot therapy being used in China as long ago as 4000BC. Evidence of foot therapy has also been discovered in Egypt - the tomb of Ankmahor, and amongst the North American Indians.

Although, Reflexology has its roots in ancient medicine, it was first recognised in the Western world in 1915 when Dr William Fitzgerald noticed that pressure on specific parts of the foot could have an anaesthetising effect on corresponding areas in the body. His work was further developed by Eunice Ingham who pioneered the use of Reflexology as we know it today.

Reflexology can improve a wide range of conditions, and is excellent for stress reduction and relaxation. It can be used in most environments as little room is required and the client only needs to remove their socks/ shoes.

Reflexology is gradually becoming accepted into orthodox medicine, with a number of health professionals, such as; midwives and nurses enhancing their core training with reflexology skills.

Jayne combines traditional Reflexology techniques  with VRT (Vertical Reflex Therapy). Put simply, VRT (The Booth Method) is Reflexology when the feet are weight-bearing. A standard treatment incorporating VRT techniques takes around an hour.
