Corporate On- Site Acupressure Massage
Corporate on site acupressure massage, (also known as seated acupressure bodywork or on-site massage), is becoming increasingly popular in todays busy corporate arena. This in- house treatment is quick and effective with the benefits to the client being immediate. Based on a form of oriental medicine known as Japanese ANMA, on-site acupressure massage was first introduced to the corporate environment by David Palmer in the 1980s. His first clients were Apple computers in
Silicon Valley, and from there interest in this treatment has significantly grown. A number of high profile companies utilise Corporate On-site massage (and other Complementary Therapies) into their wellbeing programs, these include; Virgin, Railtrack, M&S and Orange.
You don't need to remove any clothing, except for ties and jewellery - No oils or lotions are used. The areas focused on during treatment are the Back, Head, Neck, Shoulders, Hands, and Arms. The treatment incorporates massage, gentle stretches and pressure to specific acu-points, (in much the same way as acupuncture but using touch instead of needles!). You can select how much time you invest, ranging from a 10 minute to 20 minute treatment. . All that we require is a quiet space suitable for the ergonomically designed chair. Employees will be ready to return to work after treatment. As with any type of massage they will be advised to keep hydrated afterwards.
The Health & Safety Executive estimate that 4.9 million working days are lost each year because of back problems. Although, Seated Acupressure Massage is not a medical treatment, or a miracle cure, it is very effective at easing minor aches and areas of tension in the head, neck and upper limbs. The body responds very quickly to this type of therapy - It is ideal for the corporate environment, or indeed any workplace setting where employees are sitting at a desk or are sedentary for long periods of time. It is also an effective stress-buster for high pressure environments!
