Seated Acupressure Massage

Acupressure massage, (also known as seated acupressure bodywork or on-site massage), is becoming increasingly popular in today’s busy corporate arena. In fact, because it is so accessible, this type of bodywork can be adapted for almost any environment. It is a quick and effective treatment with the benefits to the client being immediate. Based on a form of oriental medicine known as Japanese ANMA, acupressure massage was first introduced to the corporate market by David Palmer in the 1980’s. His first clients were Apple computers in Silicon Valley , and from there interest has grown significantly

No clothes are removed for seated acupressure massage, and no oils or lotions are used. All that is required is a quiet space with room for the specially designed chair provided by the Therapist. The areas usually focused on during treatment are the Back, Head, Neck, Shoulders, Hands, and Arms, although techniques for the Legs and Face can also be incorporated. A standard treatment is 20 minutes in duration, although shorter massages can be offered when time is at a premium, particularly in the workplace - A treatment as short as 10 minutes can still be of benefit to the client. However, private clients in their own home or salon setting, may prefer a longer treatment of 30 minutes

A Seated Acupressure Massage, incorporates traditional massage techniques (through the clothes) along with, gentle stretches and pressure to specific acupoints, (in much the same way as acupuncture – but  without the use of needles!). In a standard 20 minute treatment, over 60 Acupressure points are worked on. It is a quick and convenient treatment and results are immediate. You can select how much time you invest, ranging from 10 minutes to a 30 minute treatment.

Seated Acupressure massage, differs from many other types of massage in that it leaves the client feeling revitalised and invigorated after treatment. Although, blood pressure is lowered and the pulse rate normalised, the treatment also increases circulation and allows energy to flow efficiently around the body. After treatment you should feel de-stressed and re-focused, in fact ready to face the day.

After treatment, as with any form of Complementary Therapy, you should keep yourself hydrated!!
